TVS-882T HDMI 2.0?

Post by ravndude »

I have an 882T with 3 HDMI ports. This is listed as having 2 HDMI 1.4b ports and 1 HDMI 2.0 port. Which is which? I can find zero documentation or information at all. Please help.

I've never seen one but according to the product gallery images, it says HDMI 2.0 next to the bottom one.
RAID have never ever been a replacement for backups. Without backups on a different system (preferably placed at another site), you will eventually lose data!

A non-RAID configuration (including RAID 0, which isn't really RAID) with a backup on a separate media protects your data far better than any RAID-volume without backup.

All data storage consists of both the primary storage and the backups. It's your money and your data, spend the storage budget wisely or pay with your data!

While it might be a HDMI 2.0 slot ... the Intel supplied Linux drivers are still not supporting it. And no change in sight. Inhell at it's best.

I can play 4K video files via the bottom HDMI 2.0 port. But, like you, I would like to know how they are designated - 0, 1, 2. I need to select one of the upper HDMI 1.4 ports for audio out to an HDMI -> optical converter in Plex...

This might be why I cannot get DTS/Atmos out of the HDMI 2.0 slot on the TVS-1282T, I get video but no decent sound :? The other HDMI slots work fine but they are not 2.0 :x

In the absence of Intel Driver updates, a potential option might be the installation of an NVidia GPU and using VM GPU Pass-through to get HDMI 2.0 & audio. Any GeForce Model in the Titan (Geforce 600/700 series) or higher will support DTS/ATMOS according to NVidias documentation. The GTX 1050 Ti's are fairly reasonable cards these days in the Pascal series. Of course I would also verify that the card is on QNAP's compatibility list prior to purchase.

What good is a HDMI 2.0 port that doesn't work correctly, Qnap and Intel screwed this up.

QNAP is at the mercy of Intel and the drivers they provide/etc. That maybe why you have seen more AMD based models coming out of QNAP as of late (TVS-x73, TS-x77, etc.).

the new Ryzen do not have a builtin video output (no iGPU) so you need to install your own video card

I think I'm going to try the GTX 1050 Ti in the TVS-1282T since they are reasonable :mrgreen

Confirmed that it does work.. :D

Has Intel supplied the Linux Drivers for the HDMI 2.0 slot on the TVS 1282T Yet?
