openvpn and port forward

Post by ovit386 »

Hello,

I'm new in OpenVPN, normally I use IPSEC or L2TP with IPSEC.
I get port forwarded from VPN service (AirVPN).
In qnap I get connection with QVPN, but If I test FTP or other,
port doesn't come thru; if I set on PC I get port

is there someone who use this

Regards, Vito

Hi Vito,

There is not much of a difference between the VPN protocols. OpenVPN is much easier on port forwarding in NAT environments, and less risk of being "captured" by some consumer routers VPN implementations.

You permit incoming OpenVPN connections to be established _from_ the AirVPN side? Or do you much more establish the OpenVPN connection from the NAS to the AirVPN service?

Sorry, it's unclear what you are testing here. An FTP connection through the OpenVPN to AirVPN to the Internet? Or an attempt to ftp to the AirVPN infrastructure and expect an FTP connection to the NAS established?

More information required please.
