Router replacement now QNAP is not accessible.

Post by ccices »

Hello all, I had a router failure and upon replacement, I have lost my ability to connect to the NAS.
I have a ASUS RT-AC66U_B1 router along with a QNAP TS-431P

QFinder can, at times, find the system but cannot configure or connect. I say at times because it appears to find it after a NAS reboot but once it fails to connect, it never finds it again.

I can ping the NAS from all LAN clients

The router shows the system on the network map.

I see it when I run arp -a

When I run NBTSTAT /A I see
NetBIOS Remote Machine Name Table

Name Type Status
---------------------------------------------
NAS06D14C <00> UNIQUE Registered
NAS06D14C <03> UNIQUE Registered
NAS06D14C <20> UNIQUE Registered
WORKGROUP <00> GROUP Registered
WORKGROUP <1E> GROUP Registered

When I run NBTSTAT /a with the name of the nas nothing is returned..
Ethernet:
Node IpAddress: [192.168.50.93] Scope Id: []

Host not found.

PNPP is on in the router, firewall is off.

Not really sure what or where to go next. Any ideas would be appreciated.

NAS has a fixed IP (no DHCP) and the new router is in a different range ?

Dolbyman's reply makes the most sense.

If your NAS has another ethernet port, you can try using that one to see if it'll allow the router to assign it an IP address, so you can log in. But it is best to change your router to map the IP address range of the old router.

I tried to connect directly to the NAS with a laptop on the second port. Same symptoms. Web page doesn't load, QFinder sees the router, but any connection attempts fail with a failed to get response from this device.
