453A ---> 453A new
Hello,
I had a TS-453A that was damaged and is no longer working. Let's call him "old". I was very lucky - hard drives are fine. I got myself a new TS-453A and tried to restore from the HDD #1-old. Somehow the restore is endless, every time the new NAS recognises the HDD 1 as an HDD from another QNAP and proposes me to restore. Everything goes smooth but after the restore I have a reboot which brings me back to the restore screen.
After trying for a few times I decided to start from scratch and got myself a new HDD which I put in bay 1. I still have HDD #1-old and HDD#2-old and HDD#3-old. So how do I restore all the shares? Thank you!

The old and new NAS should be running the same version and build of the firmware.
Use the forum search feature before posting.
Use RAID and external backups. RAID will protect you from disk failure, keep your system running, and data accessible while the disk is replaced, and the RAID rebuilt. Backups will allow you to recover data that is lost or corrupted, or from system failure. One does not replace the other.
NAS: TVS-882BR | F/W: 5.0.1.2346 | 40GB | 2 x 1TB M.2 SATA RAID 1 (System/VMs) | 3 x 1TB M.2 NMVe QM2-4P-384A RAID 5 (cache) | 5 x 14TB Exos HDD RAID 6 (Data) | 1 x Blu-ray
NAS: TVS-h674 | F/W: 5.0.1.2376 | 16GB | 3 x 18TB RAID 5
Apps: DNSMasq, PLEX, iDrive, QVPN, QLMS, MP3fs, HBS3, Entware, DLstation, VS, +

And if they don’t? I think they should have the same version as I always kept mine up to date and immediately updated the new to the version released closer to end of May (before the accident happened). Thanks!!

Then things don’t always go right. Read about migrating from one unit to another in the manual.
