Cant access webserver on ddns & https

Post by Alloisxp »

Hello everybody,

I'm trying to access my mediawiki from the internet.
On my internal webadress everything works as intended (https also).

But when I'm trying to access through https://myname.myqnapcloud.com:8081/mediawiki I'm getting a timeout, and if I use just https://myname.myqnapcloud.com/mediawiki without the port I get qnap error page at least but page not found /webserver not available.
(Tested it also with my mobilephone from outside my locale wlan: http works but https doesnt...).

Update:
I've installed mediawiki from the apps in qts web admin panel.
Also https://myname.myqnapcloud.com/mediawik ... ?title=Bla is working like a charm (and all links from it too),
but just https://myname.myqnapcloud.com/mediawiki/index.php shows a timeout (I've used mediawiki before and it places the root page on the query string itself normally, at least in my old non NAS Version).
So is there more to configuring files & access in the web folder?

(I dont have a ssl cert, but just for seeing the wiki actually that should not been a problem or?) in the qts web-admin panel I can see under myqnapcloud everything as green like network connectivity and DDNS).
I've activated UPnP Port forwarding but also added the ports manually in my router (at least the tests in auto router config say this is working)
Also http://myname.myqnapcloud.com:80/ works, but I cant login to the mediawiki without https actually so I need it.
I did not change anything else to the default install.
The NAS has a static Ip in the intranet (with DHCP for the other machines in the network still active and in the NAS I've still "get IP from DHCP" for the Network Adapter configuration (but it shows the correct one so this seems also to work and I can connect except on https...).
For me it looks like the NAS is trying to access 443 with the webserver but this is for NAS Admin Panel so it fails??

Do I have to configure something else to get it to work with https? (Like a virtual host for the webserver or something)?
Or what am I doing wrong here?

really sure you want to expose your nas to the web?

lots of hacked nas this year alone..be very careful..or lose your private data and compromise your home network

If you have sensitive information on the NAS like personal financial documents, I wouldn't expose your NAS to the internet.

But if you just have movies, a mediawiki or stuff that really doesn't matter if someone steals it. Then I think the risk is fine. Just make sure you put 2-step authentication on all admin accounts and don't use any standard ports. Change all your ports to something custom.
