Hi,
I bought and installed a TS-431X2, with just one WD Red 4TB for now, learning to manage the NAS.
It will provide storage for backup (Time Machine) and multimedia (streaming audio and video on the LAN).
My idea is 1 SSD system disk + RAID 5 storage pool.
Will I benefit from installing the OS on a dedicated disk, in the performance or stability or versatility sense (adding/upgrading storage disks) or am I watching the whole thing from the wrong point of view?
Thanks,
regards
G.

Re: Dedicated system disk
never do a single disk for the system..just use regular drives and just use one system and storage volume (no issues with drive failure or later expansion)
none of the uses you mention would benefit from an ssd system volume

Re: Dedicated system disk
Thanks!
I read a lot and searched forum but was uncertain on the benefit of a separate disk for maintenance benefits.
