On boot, solid red HDD light(no inserted HDD) w/ No status light.

Hi All,

This is a second hand QNAP TS-251, so don't know if this counts as the right place to ask.

I plug-in, turn on: Lan is flashing green, USB is solid blue, solid red on HDD 1(When plugged in, can feel the drive spinning), HDD 2 none, Status has no lights. - no beeps what so ever.
From the get-go, the HDD light is solid red no matter if the HDD is in or not. Even if it was in the second slot only.

Any help appreciated.

does the nas boot to setup with no disks?
does it get a dhcp lease?
is there an output on the hdmi?

No setup without disk or no disk. Solid red light still remains, with no status light.
no HDMI signal received,
no DHCP lease(there is one called BRW3423874EC*** which I don't think is it.).

Before it had no RAM, so put in a pair of 2nd hand ram.

any update on this? i have the exact same issue. started about march 2020 time. wonder if there was an auto update that did this?

there is no autoupdate by default, you must activate it deliberately

try a firmware recovery if that doesn't work, contact qnap

No boot is possible ...
Just before the problem, I have received a notification for an issue with the fan,
But with a new fan, always the same ...
I have changed the RAM module with a new, no improvement.

I have exactly same problem with fan warning. Now can't boot because have red lights.

same exact problem with the fan notification. Someone can share the conclusion on this? My QNAP is dead?
I tried to replace the fan and the memory module and it doean't help. Can it be the CPU?

I paid like 500$ 4 year ago for this. His life expectancy is not very long.

Im having the same issue. My TS-251+ stopped working around march after an issue with the fan. It started beeping and rebooted but never fully started and now it does not even beep and status lights are not showing

No solutions to this?

I've got the same exact problem on my Qnap 251+, red light, no status light, and no HDMI Signal. Same with or without hard drives

Chiming in to say that I have the same problem on a TS-451. No status light, solid red light on HDD2, no startup beeps, no HDMI signal. This morning I got an email notification saying: "[Hardware Status] System fan 1 failed".
