OK, I had the same issues described here. Contacted Qnap and like others, it was EOL and they won't do anything. Here is what they said:
"I hate to be the bearer of bad news but your unit is defective. Based on the serial number provided in this ticket. This unit is no longer cover under warranty and the parts for this unit are EOL."
So, I will solder a resistor on as well, what have I got to lose. Maybe someone mentioned this but I see different resistors used with the most common 100 Ohm. Can someone point me in the right direction to purchase one? It seems they come in packs of 30 and up. Don't need that many : )

purchase depends on your geographic location
according to QNAP's own website
https://www.qnap.com/en/product/eol.php
Parts support is limited, but the device is not EOL for tech support or firmware

the fix will make your nas run again (for a while)...it will not help with the ransomware (obviously)

Re: On boot, solid red HDD light(no inserted HDD) w/ No status light.
I had my TS-451 die on me. I used the resistor fix to get it going again so I can get my files transferred off to some other drives. They offered me a 15% discount on a new unit. I was looking at the TS-451D2, but I'm unsure if the issue has been resolved or if it is going to crop up again with this unit. Their other option was the TS-453D. A bit out of my price range.
I'm really torn now if I should continue with the intel line or switch over to their ARM processor (TS-431K). I know I lose some functionality, but my old TS-209 is still running after all these years.
Is there any information on the Intel J4025? Does it have the same issue that the J1800 has? I've done some google searches, but don't see anything out in the wild yet.
Any info/suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks!

The defective CPUs are using the Silvermont (ca. 2013) and Goldmont (ca. 2016) architectures. The J4025 is based on the more recent Goldmont Plus (ca. 2018) architecture which is not affected. The J4025 CPU is quite recent, it was launched in Q4 2019.

You can add me to the list, solid red lights for HDDs and no status light.
After about the same issue with a TS-228 i give up with Qnap...

Re: On boot, solid red HDD light(no inserted HDD) w/ No status light.
So - hey folks, I had a warning yesterday.
App Name: Hardware Status
Category: Overheating
Message: [Hardware Status] NAS temperature has exceeded the threshold:
60℃. The NAS will power off if the temperature exceeds 70℃.
Never had this before, so immediately shut down the TS 251 2 Bay I've been running for the past 6 years without any issue (once an HDD failed but that's a separate story). Today (24/06) started the NAS and had the same issue everyone describing here. QFinder can't find it, no boot.
Has anyone found any solution? I've opened a ticket with QNAP.

Please read the thread (what a concept) and apply the resistor to see if you have the LPC issue

Thanks for your response. QNAP asked for 140 USD plus postage to replace the motherboard. I was inclined towards buying a 451D2 with a credit card but that would cost me north of $700 including HDDs. Right now will go with QNAP's proposal.
Good luck with your respective cases.

Hello All, I did the 100 ohm resister fix for the pin 1 and 8. Now When I turn on the NAS , It turns OFF by itself. Any suggestions?

Re: On boot, solid red HDD light(no inserted HDD) w/ No status light.
Am experiencing the same LPC issues with a QNAP TS-251C. The circuit board however looks different than the 251 one, there are no pins 1 to 9 available. Does anyone know where to connect the 100 ohm resistor? Or even if it is possible to fix the LPC issue with the 251C?
