Newly installed TS-230. Error Code 0x80070035

Post by Azerty9802 »

Hi all,

Hoping some Network Gurus can point me to the right direction. Thanks in advance.

Newly installed TS-230 with the latest firmware installed. Main goal is to set up the home cloud for files/photos sharing.

Network is Netgear Mesh set up. TS-230 assigned with Static IP. Two PCs with Win 10 Pro/Home can see the TS-230 using Qfinder Pro without any issue. NAS shows up in the Network with public folders. Able to view/create/transfer files without issue.

A 3rd PC with Win 10 Pro to see the NAS from Qfinder Pro. Able to log in and see all folders up until now. (Thru Qfinder Pro only!)

Unable to access NAS folders from this PC network folder. TS-230 icon shows up but error message pops up when trying to connect it.

error code: 0x80070035

I know it is a very generic code and I don't know much about network.

Subnet and IP address is not an issue since the other 2 PCs can access it.

All PCs have the latest Win 10 updates.

Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP selected.
File and Print of Microsoft Networks installed and enabled.

From the QfinderPro and selected "Network Drives". The correct static IP was showing and Protocol was SMP/CIFS.

Found the solution from Qnap Support page.

Support

Why can’t I find my NAS in Windows File Explorer after installing the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (version 1709)?

Starting from Windows 10 version 1709 (Fall Creators Update), Windows no longer supports SMB version 1 (SMBv1) by default. This prevents Windows File Explorer from discovering shared folders of older QTS versions on the local network.

QTS version 4.3.4 and later has added WS-Discovery which means that QTS will be able to discover shared folders when SMBv1 is disabled. QTS will automatically pick the best protocol to use between your PC and the NAS. You can also select the highest and the lowest SMB protocol to use for the connections if necessary.
This setting is found in Control Panel > Network & File Services > Win/Mac/NFS > Advanced Options > Enable WS-Discovery

Highest SMB version SMB 3
Lowest SMB version SMB 1

Works like a champ. The 3rd PC can access the NSA folders without any further issue.

yeh most of the past issues were ws discovery was disabled. so remember that when troubleshooting.

cloud? hope you don't mean expose your nas online?

use a vpn if you need remote.
