Added 2.5GBe Expansion Card to TS-251D

Post by Hilts111 »

Hello

As in the title. I have fairly good knowledge of PC hardware, apparently lmuch ess about networking and obviously (to me) nothing about NAS.

I am hoping to run the NAS only through the 2.5GBe card (QXG-2G1T-I225) and disconnect the 1GBe cable from the default interface. The NAS appears to see both adapters (and I have set the 2.5GBe one as the default gateway for internet access) but if I disconnect the cable to the 1GBe adapter I lose connection to the NAS on my network.

Have searched this forum and any manuals I can find from QNAP's site but I must be missing something.

Can this be done?

Thanks

KS

the 2.5 GbE interface probably has a different IP .. so if you access the NAS via IP, adapt it in your clients.

Thank you for the speedy response.

It does have a different static IP address. Most of the clients are WIndows 10 but I cannot get them to see the NAS on the network if the 1GBe adapter is disconnected -even specifying the different IP address.

More Googling required!
