[Solved] TVS-871T Can't login after reset

Post by westhamm »

Hi all,

Should have left well alone but due to some 'DNS server cannot resolve hosts' issues I ended up performing a reset (3 sec and the 10 sec) but can't get back in to my NAS. I am a Mac user and have tried Safari, Chrome and Firefox and can get to the login screen but always end up with 'Your login credentials are incorrect or your account is no longer valid' after trying admin, admin and the revised password which takes the MAC address (all caps, numerics and no dashes). Any idea what's next please? Many thanks

Hi, yes have used the MAC1 code with the leading 000's but get the 'incorrect' message.

I have been googling how to do exactly that with a Mac. Maybe best if I did out my old Windows laptop perhaps! The guide I found suggests taking out the HDD’s first then restart etc. Is that what you mean by SSH access? Thanks

no .. SSH access is done via terminal, pretty sure MAC's come with one by default

Thanks again, have tried Mac Terminal and Windows Command Prompt using 'ssh yourNASusername@yourNASip -p22' but getting 'connection refused' in both cases. Have also used Putty (not tried the removal of HDD's yet) and same response. For clarity I have a static IP on the NAS and notice this is still showing in QFinder despite the 3 x sec and 10 x sec resets.

Anything else to try please?!

Solved! I have been using the MAC password from QFinder and have tried the MAC1 address from the back of the NAS - looked again and there are 2 x stickers on the back of the NAS and the other has another 4 x MAC addresses and the first of these worked! No idea why QFinder reports the 'other' sticker but I am in. Hope this helps others in similar cases as I have found loads of cases on the net of people locked out. Thanks also dolbyman for your help!

are you connected to the first lan port ? ..if not, qfinder will report whatever other port you are connected too

the linked guide mentions the sticker though

At the moment I am connected to 1st lan port in the 10G expansion card slot (MAC1). Just checked QFinder and it is reporting the MAC address for MAC2 of the card though. I give up trying to work it out! At least I am back in and have changed password so all good - thanks again!
