Login failed. There was no response from the server.

Post by TheAnji »

Suddenly I am not able to connect to the server.
Getting message "Login failed. There was no response from the server.".

Also another Message:

"Cannot connect to device. Please check if the device and your computer are on the same subnet.
Click 'OK' to open the web browser and try to connect to device, or click 'Cancel' to return."

Last action I performed was created a new user with admin access.

2 weeks old system.
Need help .Please.

Does qfinder finds the NAS?
Yes. This popup message is from Qfinder pro only.

Probably need to start detailing your setup, starting with some basics like IP addresses, DHCP or static, etc.

Have you tried looking in your router to see what IP the Nas shows up on and accessing it directly without qfinder?

Actually, DHCP is used to assign an IP address and has nothing to do with connecting. Did you try accessing the GUI using your browser, without using qfinder?

Yes. Still didn't work. This time Qfinder Pro is also not showing the unit after I hit refresh button.
I can try rebooting again. But this wouldn't fix the issue.

I created support ticket, they asked me if I have updated any firmware recently. My firmware version is 4.5.3(2021.04.28) and I don't have Internet connected to the device. so no firmware updated.

Thank you dosborne for responding back.

Internet access (directly for your nas) is not the only way to update firmware. You can manually download firmware images from QNAP and manually install them, once you access to the admin console of course :)

Ok, So assuming you have the currently assigned IP address and cannot access the admin GUI, have you tried to telnet and/or ssh into the NAS? (Assuming you haven't disabled it)

I haven't tried ssh. thought its not safe.
But now to connect to SSH, Qfinder Pro is not showing the device. without it, is it possible to connect to SSH?

Why are you stuck on qfinder pro? It makes me think you didn't actually try connecting to the GUI by using the IP address in your browser.

Ssh has nothing to do with qfinder. Use a program like "putty"./

Get the IP address of your Nas from your router. Try pinging the IP address.

I connected The Nas to the computer through Thunderbolt port. I got popup to use T2E (Thunderbolt to Ehternet) but I didn’t enable. So I thought this NAS is no where connected to network (router). No WiFi, No Ethernet.

When I look at the router, it is showing all the Devices which are connected either to the WiFi or Ethernet. In the router NAS is showing Inactive and connection is Ethernet.
I gave that IP address in the browser. No luck. This may be I connected the device to LaN for the internet purpose, since it didn’t work I disconnected it. May my router is showing that information.

Thunderbolt. Ok. That would have been useful in the first post :)

I know nothing about TB connectivity so hopefully someone else can help you.

Can you connect both devices using a LAN cable? Or does your PC dont have a LAN interface?
No idea, if QNAP supports an administrative connect via TB!?? :S
