Entry level NAS with snapshot capability

Post by ON2014 »

I currently use a TS-212P which meets my needs (exceeds them, actually) for local redundant storage. I recently became aware of the volume snapshot feature that is available in some units, but mine is apparently lacking this capability — or maybe I've misread.

My interest in snapshots is for the protection they allegedly offer against malware/ransomware. As such, my question is: What is the lowest level (i.e., most economical) QNAP device that supports snapshot functionality?

Thanks.

lowest would be x31 units with expandable RAM

for exact details you would need to wait till after 4.3.4 was released

(although you might find a 251 cheaper in your market)

Qnap just announced some new ARM models that support snapshot. See this video for more details.
