Mine is still running strong. My mods for the delidded 6700K on the cooling was to use the same OEM design and upgraded the centrifugal fan and used a heavier, more copper based block 2U passive heatsink along with a higher capacity 450W corsair SFX PSU. My unit is full with drives.
I have had 3 broken drive bays which I replaced. It is indeed the plastic opening mechanism in the front which came apart. Temperature spikes in the mid 60s under heavy load and runs steady in the low 40s with 3 VMs and 1 container. This NAS is also my dual WAN router, NVR for 16 cameras, network controller and home automation controller.
With the number of VMs I had, I only wish it was an 8th gen Core i7 so I could have put 12 or 16 threads in it instead of the 8.
