I've had a TS-419PII for the last eight years or so, very happy with it, only really using it for file storage/download station/Qsync/rsync
In terms of QNAP support it looks to be at the end of the life cycle and I'm wondering about upgrading. My question, what is the current equivalent to the TS-419PII?
TIA

Re: TS-419PII replacement
If it's only to store data, any low end ARM QNAP will do.
But nothing us stopping you from using the 419PII for longer.
I still use my 419p+ for backup storage ..still works like a champ
So unless you have specific needs that need improving (network speed, video transcoding, VMs/containers) , why upgrade?

Re: TS-419PII replacement
I use the term "upgrade" quite loosely - I don't need any additional features, so it's more of a firmware upgrade than a hardware upgrade. The main driver for an "upgrade" would be because the QNAP security support ended in Dec 2020:

Re: TS-419PII replacement
It's true ..but if the NAS is not web exposed (no QNAP NAS should be) then attack risks are relatively low.
QNAP still releases upgrades for security though..latest update for yours was just a couple of weeks ago

Thanks for the reply. That's interesting to know about the recent security update... may be a silly question but how do I know if I'm up to date?

Re: TS-419PII replacement
There should be an auto update checker in your OS
Or you can take a peek here

Re: TS-419PII replacement
Thanks for the reply - it looks like I'm on an outdated firmware so I'll get this updated right away.
The link shows four updates since Dec 2020 so I'm not sure how that tallies with the EOL status... I just guess I'll keep on updating for the time being!
Thanks for the help it's probably saved me buying a new NAS
