hi all,
just a quick question...... I am looking at the possibility of a side/upgrade from an 873A towards a TVS-872X.
yes its a very similar box.... but it has native 10G and an iGPU. These two things are currently consuming PCI slots in my 873a.
I am wanting to introduce some SSD into the box for a high perf tier (local VM's + possible some caching) and don't have the space on the 873A to do this.
The question is... I currently have 6x16TB disks in a Raid5 on my 873. I assume that I should be able to move this directly to the 872X. The system stuff is on a seperate pair of SSD's at the moment, so it is purely a data volume.
I will transfer my memory across (64GB) and possibly look at putting in a couple of 2TB NVME in the slots for my VM disks and the System disk.... with adding an expansion card for caching later....
Any gotcha's or any recommendations?? either diff model or config??

Re: TS-873A --> TVS-872
see here if disk migration is possible
https://www.qnap.com/en/nas-migration
btw..you can do cache/volume/tier on one set..just one of those
Also QNAP is very picky with RAM, no guarantees that you can move it over
