Is QNAP bringing out any new hardware that can compete with the Synology RS1221+?
It has 12" depth which is perfect for my shadow rack, 2U 8 bays, which is exactly what I need to migrate away from my TS-853pro (what I have now), and it has a PCIe expansion slot with a combined NVMe SSD.
The 12" depth factor is critical to me, but so far as I can see, QNAP has no 8bay 2u 12" hardware.
I really want to stay with QNAP as it would make it so much easier migrating, literally just swap the disks in place. And I am willing to wait 6-12 months if QNAP s bringing out a product that can compete with the 1221+. Does anyone know if it's on their radar?

The TS-873AU-RP has similar specs to the RS1221+.
But if you need it to be a smaller form factor, I don't know of a soon coming smaller form factor rackmount NAS with similar specs. This does not mean there won't be one. I can't say for sure.
