Hello,

There is no summary table, because we are not professional testers for QNAP, but all the information in this topic has been tested.

You can see for example the detail of CPUs I have used in my signature.

In my case, I have validated Xeon and ECC memory only on a U version and not a Pro. I think some other have done it.
But generally, you can use ECC memory only if you have a Xeon, not with an I7.

Also, Xeon E3 1290 won't work as you need an onboard graphic processor. This is available for E3-1245 or E3-1275 for example (please pay attention to the generation).

I hope this helps.

Hello Dennis, many thanks for your support.
In deed it helped me a lot!

I'll try to find E3 1275 v0 on eBay - For a Better Upgrade
I have 8Gb+8Gb DDR3 Kingston still have to check compatibility.
And a good heatsink

Once Again Thanks

I have TS 1679U-RP
The regular fans are very noisy
I decided to replace it with Noctua NF-A6x25 ( https://noctua.at/en/nf-a6x25-pwm )
Suitable?

It is normal on a U-RP model that fans are noisy (because of very high RPM to compensate the small diameter).
Looking at the rack of 3 fans, I think it is possible to replace the fans, but I am not sure it would lower the noise a lot and I know that the replacement fan were sold as a complete module with the 3 fans.

You may measure the distance between the grey spots, which are hiding the 3 fans mounting holes to get an idea of the dimension.

The best would be to dismantle a broken one.

Disassembled the replaceable unit
It is very easy
There is a fan installed Sanyo Denki 9G0612P1G23 4pin (three pieces)
Fan size 60х60х38mm
Noctua NF-A6x25 pwm Suitable for these parameters

I'm interested to see if these replacement fans were much quieter. What is your experience ValVal?
My TS-879U - RP is very noisy. In comparison, my 870U is really quiet.
I cannot alter the 879 fan speed using SmartFan or manually. The fans whizz along at ~6300 rpm whatever I do.

Cheers

I tried Core i7 3770S on TS-1079 Pro and no work.
There were only four beeps and nothing on the screen. :|
I should have read your post earlier, before I got my Core i7 3770S.
