TS451 Replacement
Despite many weeks trying to resolve the problems I have with my TS451 I've decided to bite the bullet and invest in a new NAS.
I currently have a TS451 with all four bays populated with 3TByte disks - RAID 5 enabled.
I got very confused with the number of 4-bay diskless options available so would appreciate some help with choosing a replacement.
It's for home use so just need basic functionality.

Re: TS451 Replacement
Thanks dolbyman - I wasn't aware of the compatibility list.
The list has six options:-
TS-410
TS-410U
TS-439 Pro II
TS-439 Pro II+
SS-439 Pro
TS-439 Pro
It is for home use so no great performance demands apart from streaming music using MinimServer and USB 3 would be useful for backups?
I had a quick look at the specifications of those on the list and they all seem to be a step backwards from the TS-451?

Re: TS451 Replacement
No...please use the list..the option of migrating a 451+ to a 15 year old CAT1 TS-410 should be a big fat red cross (incompatible)

What about the QNAP TS-453D-4G - seems to have everything I need?

Re: TS451 Replacement
Thanks dolbyman - is there anything else in that sort of price range that might be suitable?

Re: TS451 Replacement
I am UK based.
I'm assuming that the TS-453D-4G (Intel Celeron J4125 quad-core 2.0 GHz processor) is not affected by the J1900 CPU flaw?

Re: TS451 Replacement
I have purchased a new TS-453D NAS box to migrate from my existing TS-451 but the installation instructions are unclear.
If I look at this Support page there are three different ways to migrate your data from one NAS to another: -
https://www.qnap.com/en-uk/how-to/faq/a ... he-old-one
Not sure which one is applicable - hopefully I can do Direct System Migration but the Quick Installation Guide with the new NAS states that 'All the drive data will be cleared upon SSD/HDD initialisation'. I'd like to retain my NAS settings and App Center apps!
Can someone please clarify as QNAP Support don't work at weekends - probably the busiest time for Home users?

Re: TS451 Replacement
Unclear what you are talking about, the NAS migration guide I linked above already has all steps in it
Insert the disks, start the NAS
Insert the disks, start the NAS

Re: TS451 Replacement
It's from the the Quick Installation Guide that comes with the new TS-453D NAS.
Apologies for being cautious.
