TS-x53 PRO and 16GB Ram
Hallo Forum,
I’m on the way to buy a TS-453 PRO to
Run Virtual Maschines (3+)
and a few other Services
I think 16GB is better than 8GB
A have found a few Shops and the QNAP-shop themselves that TS-x53 and 16GB Ram works.
--> QNAP-Shop: RAM-8GDR3L-SO-1600 US$239,00 useable for TS-x53 series
Upgrade to 16GB with shipping and tax - over 500$ is too much
I would take 2x KVR16LS11/8 --> ~ 160$ with shipping and tax
--> 8GB 2Rx8 1G x 64-Bit PC3L-12800 CL11 204-Pin SODIMM
--> ValueRAM's 1G x 64-bit (8GB) DDR3L-1600 CL11 SDRAM (Synchronous DRAM), 2Rx8, low voltage, memory module, based on sixteen 512M x 8-bit FBGA components. The SPD is programmed to JEDEC standard latency DDR3-1600 timing of 11-11-11 at 1.35V or 1.5V. This 204-pin SODIMM uses gold contact fingers
--> http://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/KVR16LS11_8.pdf
Should this work?
Thank for Info - Meik

Re: TS-x53 PRO and 16GB Ram
You can insert for example 2x Crucial 8 GB SODIMM DDR3-1600 and thats working exelent then i have insert it in the ts-253 pro and in don't understanding why here is always teling that's it's not working.
It's working verry good and even other company's are sel qnap whit 16Gb memory http://eaegis.com/collections/qnap-ts-4 ... -4-bay-nas

It's not officially supported nor endorsed - neither by QNAP nor by Intel. Seems to be difficult to understand - nobody claims it does not work.turbojan wrote:You can insert for example 2x Crucial 8 GB SODIMM DDR3-1600 and thats working exelent then i have insert it in the ts-253 pro and in don't understanding why here is always teling that's it's not working.
One day it might no longer work (for whatever reasons) - and we can't wait to hear the big whining. Of course QNAP's mistake then...turbojan wrote:It's working verry good and even other company's are sel qnap whit 16Gb memory http://eaegis.com/collections/qnap-ts-4 ... -4-bay-nas

Re: TS-x53 PRO and 16GB Ram
If no more working than have qnap change the firmware because they do not like that working se want that you buy another nas server that's the only reason if it is no more working.

Conspiracy theory B.S. No-one at QNAP will run QA testing with non-supported configurations - so the risk is on the end-user.turbojan wrote:If no more working than have qnap change the firmware because they do not like that working se want that you buy another nas server that's the only reason if it is no more working.

I* didn't know about the limitations by Intel, but SimplyNas sells a 16g TS-x53 as well and they even stress test it before sending it to you.

Re: TS-x53 PRO and 16GB Ram
What-if it does no longer work, or shows less DRAM with the next firmware and BIOS upgrade? Ok, you have a reseller to complain to then ...Smartacus wrote:I* didn't know about the limitations by Intel, but SimplyNas sells a 16g TS-x53 as well and they even stress test it before sending it to you.

Hello,
Please be advised that QNAP and Intel can only guarantee that max 8GB of RAM can be officially supported on the TS-x53 Pro series.

Re: TS-x53 PRO and 16GB Ram
On TS-x53 Pro series can you simply add a 4gb and get 6 Gb of Dram (2Gb + 4Gb) ?
Does people having 16gb unit confirm 16gb shows up in software monitoring system from QNAP ?
rop : I understaind 453 Mini does not differs from pro unit, what pro can do mini will do.

Re: TS-x53 PRO and 16GB Ram
Dear all,
I am in the UK. I have a TS-453Mini All the places I call are recommending 2 x ValueRam Kingston 4GB 1600MHz DDR3L Non-ECC CL11 SODIMM 1.35V model number: kvr16ls11/4
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-KVR16L ... B00CQ35GYE
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-ValueR ... vr16ls11+8
I am concerned with it being Value Ram and i also like the idea of getting one single 8Gb chip.
I would be really grateful if anyone would be able to Answer the following for me
1) Must i Use 2 x 4Gb or Will 1 x 8Gb chip be ok?
2) Is Value Ram (one above) ok or Best to use a different one?
3) Any recommendations of Ram that is known to work in the 453Mini. Can i use DDR3 or must it be DDR3L
4) Links woudl be appreciated especially from Amazon UK. but not essential.
Really appreciate it as just received the Mini and want to get it going with the VM.
Thank you

Re: TS-x53 PRO and 16GB Ram
Perfectly appropriate recommendations.pcfun wrote:I am in the UK. I have a TS-453Mini All the places I call are recommending 2 x ValueRam Kingston 4GB 1600MHz DDR3L Non-ECC CL11 SODIMM 1.35V model number: kvr16ls11/4
All QNAP TS-x51 and TS-x53 come with the same requirements: DDR3L (1.35V), single channel, non-ECC, min. 1333 MHz, and deployed as single SO-DIMM or in equal capacity pairs (because of the GPU shared memory for example). Common are 1600 MHz deployed as these are more affordable and easier available.
WT*? What's the issue? These are excellent mainstream products. Of course, you can install much more expensive geeky SO-DIMMs with similar tech data ... nicely, colored, equipped whit coolers, ...pcfun wrote:I am concerned with it being Value Ram
You wont get reasonable advantage using whatever geeky RAM - if any at all.pcfun wrote:and i also like the idea of getting one single 8Gb chip

Re: TS-x53 PRO and 16GB Ram
Thanks Kurt,
I really appreciate it. Apologies but I am a novice with these so hence the cautious nature and first time on a forum.
So essentially what you are saying is the Value RAM is fine and no different advantage wise to using the supposedly premium options I have listed two below.
Sorry I didnt fully understand the Answer regarding numbers of modules. I believe you are saying I can use a single 8Gb or two 4Gb modules. But is there any disadvantage to using 1 x 8Gb module either the ValueRam or one of the two below I have found which are all around the same cost? If the same cost which would you as a Guru Use? I seriously am a begginner looking for your wisdom.
Geekie Ram - i think you would class these as?
Auto overclocking but is CL9 by Hyper X
http://www.ebuyer.com/646132-hyperx-8gb ... &pkw=&pmt=
Or Unbuffered Corsair RAM NOT SURE ON CL 9 or 11 or if makes difference
http://www.ebuyer.com/546297-corsair-8g ... m1c1600c11
That should answer my dilemma.
Many thanks for your wisdom.
