At full resolution only normally one client at time, optionally other aditional client if it not do needed a higher model or if you can tell me two models for compare specifications and price.

The rest only one or two low resolution clients (phone or tablet)

Normaly I think the simoultaneous clients will be one at máximum resolution (TV) and one tablet at low resolution.

still no info about codecs used ...x264 and x265 transcoding are different beasts (even more so in software)

Normally use .mkv in h264, I not know the diferente with h265. If is needed for 4k then with h265. The important is can play 1080p and 4k in the future (now my tv and my player not have support for 4k).

you can save a LOT of money if you offload the playback to an extra device...at that point even the cheapest nas will be sufficient for 4k streaming

all my 4k stuff works fine ... just external devices used

Instead of buying a new NAS, which would most likely have to have a core i3 processor to transcode everything 1080p, you should just buy an Apple TV4 with the Infuse App. This is client side decoding so your NAS does not need very much power at all. You nas just needs to serve up about 5MB/s, so as long as your wifi connection can handle that, it'll work great.

Here's the infuse app website https://firecore.com/infuse , you need an apple tv 4 to run it.

i use nothing but media players on my tvs. on my 4k (sony) i have KODI installed. i don't use plex, dlna, or any other resource grubbing app. it is purely smb file access and everything works perfectly. i rip everything to mp4's so no transcoding is needed. has worked for years ...

Hi, I not need any more for 1080p now,, that I said works fine with my popcorn hour yet, but I need more memory for apps so I have to bus new and higher model.

For the New model I would like my daugther can use the system and she can see the image of each movie equal or similar to plex.

Also I want she can play TV chapters in him tablet so transcode will be needed.
