I thought I would share a RAID 6 (Thin) study I'm doing to show me what the cost of ownership is to continue using a TVS-873 with up to two REXP1000 expansion chassis and 10TB Ironwolf drives.
These are priced from Amazon using today's disk and equipment costs and account for things like the cables, IO Cards and the 4 drive minimum on a raid 6 group.
Tech support has told me that for each expansion chassis you need to create a new raid group so two drives go down the drain for redundancy for each chassis. That accounts for the leveling off of capacity when a chassis is added.
I can share the excel spreadsheet if anyone is interested. There is a mechanism to account for declining disk prices as well as marking where you currently stand with your capacity.
