Greetings,
I've been looking through a few possible choices from QNAP, Synology and ASUSTOR.
I plan on getting 4 x 8TB to use in the NAS and maximise the space with RAID-5 (24TB).
The purpose is for storage with regular but not 24/7 access.
For Synology, NAS with maximum single volume larger than 16TB tend to be above my budget with the DS416play being the cheapest at 400+.
For QNAP, the spec sheet doesn't mention anything so it is harder to figure out which is why I am here.
From what I gather, my options for current 4-bay NAS are TS-431P or TS-451A and TS-451+.
So from your experience, which NAS from QNAP would be suitable?
I would also consider an older model if it is worth it.

Re: NAS with single volume larger than 16TB
if you want to be certain get a intel device...I know that arm still has issues with expanding past 16TB...so if you want to swap the drives for larger ones in the future, the X31p might give you grief

With a x64 compatible QNAP like the TS-451A/451+, under QTS 4.3.x you have a maximum Volume size of 250TB. Now that is not the RAID limit, but the volume carved within a storage pool limit.

oh heck yes!!! 60TB SAS HDD @ $30 grand each though, yummy in deed. Imagining populating all 24 bays with these beauties.... now we really start talking about storage capacities such as Petabyte's, Exabyte's and Zettabyte's.
