Both Dropbox and Citrix's "File Share" have plugins for Microsoft Outlook that make it easy to send a link to someone to a file you share with them or create a link for someone to upload a file to.
Does anyone know if this is possible already with QNAP and one of its many applications?
Or is this something someone is going to have to develop them self's somehow?
We have bought a QNAP already and have it syncing with Dropbox.
Dropbox wants to charge an arm and a leg to upgrade for more storage so that is why we bought the QNAP.
But we would really like to make it as easy as possible for our end users to share files and share links for uploading files with our clients outside of our office.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

if you use such a feature, make sure the qnap does not hold any vital data ..qnaps are not the safest boxes to expose to the internet (they dont get updated quite as often as they should and are not very "hardened")...so exposing the nas can get you hacked
you can use a dropbox clone script for collaboration or the builtin share function from qnap (all branded qnap..some people have complained ..they did not like thag it showed qnap logos on the share pages)

Re: Dropbox and Citrix "File Share"
I don't follow what you mean.
I am looking for a script or plug in for outlook that will make it easier for them to create a share link for upload or download of files. Timebomb them so after X amount of time they are no longer valid. Allow the user to select a file from their own PC that then gets automatically uploaded to the QNAP to the location where the share link is pointing for someone to download that file.
These are features that Dropbox and Share File already have. I just want to know if these are available anywhere in the series of QNAP applications out there. Or do I have to write my own script/app to do this?

what I meant is:
install doropbox clone (best in VM or container)
e.g.
https://owncloud.org/
https://wiki.qnap.com/wiki/OwnCloud
use the already done outlook plugin:
