as bob pointed out in his reply, cache would be a waste on large sequential writes (video files) ...and probably makes transfers slower when it's full..so ditch the cache

Interesting, yes I deal with large video files, but I also deal with a lot of smaller design files as well. I guess I will get up an running with no ssd just cus it will be quicker and cheaper. Once I start doing some copying with large and small bulk files, what sort of speeds should I look for? What speeds should I see that would tell me caching will be something I would notice a difference with? Keep in mind I will have a 10gbe network setup between this unit, a switch, and my imac pro.
