Re: TVS-h1288x / TVS-h1688x
Per CPU specs, DDR4-2666 dual channel is the max supported. I dont think QNAP would put bios options to OC the memory?
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en ... tions.html
The only thing i can think of causing the slowing the memory down to 2400 vs 2666 would be if one of the memory were different specs. IE speeds slower on one, one being ECC vs Non ECC, Dual rank vs single rank, etc..
For my memory i replace the two stock ones with 4 identical memory units so they all matched.

Thank you for your posting, its happy to know that the memory clock speed run at 2667 MT/s with four rams.
I test for different ram installations and show as follows.
All the rams are DDR4-3200 ECC UDIMM.
2 x 8GB original innodisk rams, 2667 MT/s;
2 x 16GB Micron 18ADF2G72AZ-3G2E1, 2667 MT/s;
2 x 32GB Micron 18ADF4G72AZ-3G2BZ, 2667 MT/s;
2 x 8GB original innodisk and 2 x 16GB Micron 18ADF2G72AZ-3G2E1, 2400MT/s;
2 x 16GB Micron 18ADF2G72AZ-3G2E1 and 2 x 32GB Micron 18ADF4G72AZ-3G2BZ, 2400MT/s;
2 x 8GB original innodisk and 2 x 32GB Micron 18ADF4G72AZ-3G2BZ, 2400 MT/s;
It seems that different types of memory run at a lower speed, even same manufacture or same frequency.
I would like to buy another 2 x 16GB or 2 x 32GB Micron rams and test again.

Any one know about this?cacakaka wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 9:27 pm I noticed that a new feature was added to support for Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV) since QuTS hero h4.5.2.1638 build 20210414.
But I can't find the feature or setting in TVS-h1288x.
I searched from www.qnap.com and found only 11 models that support SR-IOV, e.g. TS-h686/TS-h886.
(“https://www.qnap.com.cn/en-us/software/ ... on-station”)
I want to know when will TVS-h1288x supports SR-IOV.
May I replace the 10GbE Network Card to support SR-IOV.

You would need to ask QNAP via ticket...QNAP does not come here..so nobody here will know

I asked about this and was told that the TVS-h1288X can't support SR-IOV, because the CPU can't support this function.cacakaka wrote: ↑Sun Aug 22, 2021 1:33 pmAny one know about this?cacakaka wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 9:27 pm I noticed that a new feature was added to support for Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV) since QuTS hero h4.5.2.1638 build 20210414.

Hi Owners,
I'm curious in few questions:
I'm curious in few questions:
- is it Linux of FreeBSD inside?
- what chipset used there? (dmidecode, lspci, lshw outputs if it's Linux, dmidecode, pciconf -lv outputs from FreeBSD)

Hello all,
Regarding Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV) support on QNAP NAS, here is a tutorial that I found to be very helpful:
QuTS Hero v4.5.x: Viewing SR-IOV Device Settings
Hello QNAPDanielFL,
Regarding TVS-h1288X and SR-IOV, could I please ask you to re-check the accuracy of the information provided?
Best regards,

Hello QNAPDanielFL,
Regarding TVS-h1288X and SR-IOV, could I please ask you to re-check the accuracy of the information provided?
The reason I ask is as follows:QNAPDanielFL wrote:I asked about this and was told that the TVS-h1288X can't support SR-IOV, because the CPU can't support this function.
- The QNAP specifications for TVS-h1288X say it is equipped with an Intel Xeon W-1250 Workstation Processor.
- The Intel Xeon W-1250 Workstation Processor specifications say it supports Intel Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d).
- Intel VT-d is the specific capability (IOMMU support) that SR-IOV requires from a CPU.
- Altogether, these specifications seem to confirm that the QNAP TVS-h1288X's processor does indeed support SR-IOV.
- Does the QNAP TVS-h1288X natively support SR-IOV ?
- If SR-IOV is not natively supported (when the TVS-h1288X is brand-new/out-of-the-box), can SR-IOV support be accomplished by installing an alternate NIC/ethernet adapter into PCIe Slot 2 or Slot 3 ?
For example, the following QNAP 10GbE adapters both support SR-IOV: QNAP LAN-10G2T-X550 and
QNAP QXG-10G2T-X710. - Is there (by chance) any additional SR-IOV tutorial, datasheet, or white paper associated with any QNAP NAS or (QTS/QuTS Hero) Firmware, old or new, that might help to provide specific guidance?
Best regards,
Techthusiast

I asked again and the TVS-h1288X does not support SR-IOV.
I am sorry to say that I am not prepared to give a detailed answer for why this NAS does not support SR-IOV.

Re: TVS-h1288x / TVS-h1688x
Anyone else having a lot of issues with their h1688? Im starting to regret buying this NAS. I have had two tickets open for weeks with nothing being resolved. I have two pools report they "status: One or more devices has experienced an unrecoverable error. An attempt was made to correct the error. Applications are unaffected." The pools show cksum errors on the mirrored disks. I have two R1 setup for R10 pool.
The second issues has been HDP, which is a nice tool when it works. but it breaks every time it gets an app update so i am left with no protection for my VMs.
Anyways i want to see if i am only one dealing with this or if others who own the unit are having similar problems.
PS to check pool status you need to ssh into the box and run zpool status

Re: TVS-h1288x / TVS-h1688x
i can concur on the ram speeds. i just realized that I was running regular rams and not ECC.
I am running 2x16 and 2x32. now left wondering if i should get another 2x32gb kingston or swap all out for SK / samsung ecc 4x32gb
what's your comment on it?

Re: TVS-h1288x / TVS-h1688x
anyone try QuTS hero h5.0.1.2045 build 20220526 Public Beta yet? The last QuTS 5.0.0.x firmware put my unit into loop where it could not load correctly. when it did load up, it only lasted a few mins before it hung. I wish i never went to v5.x.x.x

Re: TVS-h1288x / TVS-h1688x
I am running 5.0.0.1892, this has been fine and stable. To be honest, I have learnt to avoid beta's unless I have spare kit that I dont mind playing with. My 1288x provides a lot of my family with Plex and other services, therefore, I would not use beta software on this box. I must admit, that coming from the previous 4.x.x.x release, it takes a bit of geting used to, but then again, I found coming from none Hero OS > Hero a major difference as well. Not sure I can agree which is better TBH.
