Hi all
I am currently running a QNAP T-231P as a media server and want to run Plex for my movies/TV Shows however I constantly get the error message "The server is not powerful enough to convert the video" or similar.
Ideally I would like to purchase a new server plus disks, and use the TP231P as a backup server.
Is there a suggested/recommended server that is powerful enough to does convert videos.
Sorry for the vagueness of my questions - but I bought the TP231P after I read reviews that it is pretty easy to set up and use - I am currently running Kodi on a Win10 laptop and ideally would love to stream to my other devices in other rooms, and my smart devices
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated

Re: New server query
what does you media library look like ?
1080p
4k
4k HDR (direct play or transcode?)
plexpass or free user?
depending on that, recommendations can be made

Re: New server query
The library is 1080p maximum - no 4k presently - and consists of movies and TV Shows/series.
The server is pretty much just a media box, and will be pretty much be a basic box with VPN - i won't be setting up anything like Active Directory
Is the TS251D or T251+ a good model that reduces/eliminates the error "the server is not powerful enough to convert the video" ?

Re: New server query
are you a free or a plexpass user? (hardware transcoding is only available on plexpass)

Re: New server query
TS-x53D series is good at transcoding when hardware transcoding is enabled.

Re: New server query
yes, hardware transcoding wise
you have
TS-251+ (Baytrail HD Graphics)
vs.
TS-251D (Gemini Lake UHD 600)
the UHD 600 is much more capable in hardware
