Cheapest NAS with SAS 12g interface

Post by turkodamian »

Hi, I wish to buy the cheapest NAS server with minimum 8 bays of 3.5" with SAS 12g interface, for using it with 8 HDD WD Ultrastar HC550 18TB (WUH721818AL5204 0F38353)

I've found only expensive models like this one:
QNap-tvs-ec1280u-sas-rp-16g-r2-us
5732 U$D on newegg.com https://www.newegg.com/qnap-tvs-ec1280u ... -_-Product

Is there is any other cheaper model?
Is it compatible with 18TB HDD? because on the compatibility list I see up to 16TB.

Thanks

I actually own 5 NAS TS-832x but they don't support SAS controllers PCI cards

We don't sell many NAS with SAS drives anymore. Even the TVS-EC1280U-SAS-RP-16G-R2-US is no longer made.
If SAS drives are preferred for performance, our QuTS Hero NAS should have better HDD performance than a normal QTS NAS. So even with SATA drives our Hero NAS should perform well.

thanks but TES-1885u its too expensive for our needs, we run a small audiovisual production house, we only a NAS with at least 8 SAS 12g bays and 10gbit ethernet to integrate it in our network. It's not for "mission critical" application, thanks

ok, I cannot return the SAS disks anymore
Is it better to buy TVS-EC1280U-SAS-RP-16G-R2-US or a combination of a new QuTS Hero Nas, a 12G SAS expansion card and a 12G SAS enclosure? which ones do you recommend? thanks

Which system do you think it will perform better for my SAS HDDs??

Old QTS SAS NAS: TVS-EC1280U-SAS-RP-16G-R2-US

or

NEW QuTS SATA NAS: TVS-h1288X-W1250-16G
with a SAS JBOD EXPANSION: QNAP TL-R1220Sep-RP
and a Dual-port External SAS 12Gb/s storage expansion card: QXP-820S-B3408

both systems are near the same price
thanks
