Hi guys, appreciate your expertise here.
I have had the 219p+ for a long time and I’ve been very happy with it.
It’s now coming to end of life so I’m looking to maybe get something newer with a bit more grunt.
I had looked at the 251+ but QNAP do not sell the 8gB model in the UK which is a bit disappointing. I don’t know if I’ll really need the memory bump from 2gB but I’ve sort of set my heart on it now.
I don’t want to go 3rd party RAM as having to swap it out if I need support sounds like a recipe for eventual breakage.
All ideas gratefully received.
Which to replace TS219p+ ??

How often do you expect to.need support?
Just retain the original ram if push comes to shove
easy peasy

Well, I don’t expect to use it often but I also don’t really see why I should need to go there (swapping in/out).
I know this is a bit of a whinge, but if the box and config is listed for sale in the UK, it should be for sale....no?
I am just whinging I guess. There’s a 453D which comes with 4gB OEM RAM. I may get that instead.

what do you want to do with your nas?
for just backup the ts-431p3 also could be an option as it should be very cheap

good point..
I have a 419p+ and I am not planning to retire it (unless it dies) .. nothing stopping you from using it (unless you have a specific need that the old NAS is not meeting)

You’re right of course, it’s still working and only had one disk issue in more years than I care to remember.
I guess the reasons to upgrade were fairly thin; I was hoping to have some software intelligently manage my multiple (hundreds) photo folders; the 219 is a few (10?) years old now....it’s a peace of mind thing, I guess
I should do some work on the NAS rather than just Chuck money at the problem.
Thanks, you’ve helped a lot!
