TS-251D - Multimedia centre

Post by nivaria.achinet »

Good evning.
I wont create a multimedia centre to share with my friends.
I'm thinking about buying the TS-251D-4G model with 20TB.
I have more questions about multimedia centre:
  • Can an user save a video from Qvideo app to watch it offline?
  • It's possible download a video from Qvideo app and save it in a device?
  • Transcoding a video, takes up space on the hard drive?
  • Is there a maximum number of users or devices that can connect simultaneously?
If yes, it's depends by software, hardware nas, host internet connection, nas model or from what?
Thanks.

Unless you are using Plex or "sharing" is in LAN only ...do not expose the NAS to WAN

Okay, but what does that have to do with my topic?

Well, how are you planning to share the files with your friends? Via the internet ? .. well back to my post...That's what this got to do with your question.

If you are going the Plex way:

- Transcoding (with Plexpass in hardware) is done in realtime or optionally beforehand(and then uses space on your disks), you can set that up
- Your friends can download the video from Plex (if enabled)
