Looking to replace a TVS-1282T with something more powerful (CPU)

Post by cryptochrome »

Hi,

I am generally happy with my TVS-1282T, but the CPU (i7-6600) is getting a bit dated, especially when it comes to hardware encoding capabilities of video files. The i7-6600 does not support h265 hardware decoding and encoding, for example.

What would be a "next-generation" replacement for the TVS-1282T? Something with similar storage room (number of disks, SSDs) but with a more modern CPU?

Thanks

Thanks. It's running QuTS with ZFS though. I want to be able to just take my disk pack and move it to the new NAS. I suppose I can't do that here since both NAS run different operating systems?

Exactly. This cannot be done due to differences between QTS (ext4) and QuTS hero (ZFS). So back up the data elsewhere, then move the disks, etc., set up and upload the data to a new NAS.

Or, If you would like to use QTS on the TVS-h1288X, then this can be done with data retention etc. First without disks in Qfinder reinstall firmware on the flash from QuTS hero to classic QTS OS and then put the disks in there etc. and run the NAS and all will work after reboot as the same as it worked in TVS-1282T3.

Oh, that's good to know that I can switch over to QTS. Thanks.
