Hello everybody,
I'm thinking to buy my first nas (model QNAP TS-451D2) on which I would like to install 8 gb of ram.
I'm going to install three rotary disks to do a raid 5 but I would also like to install a virtual machine (Linux Debian) and was wondering where this runs. I would like the disks in raid 5 to be on standby (I will do network backups about two or three times a week) and I would not like the disks to spin continuously because a virtual machine is running which does not use files on the disks.
I hope I have explained my perplexity in the best possible way ...
Any comment is welcome,
Greetings

If you check this forum you will find many questions and issues with QNAP units around drives NOT sleeping.
Simply put, don't expect your drives to sleep.
