TS-451 memory upgrade (compatibility)
What mem-modules are suitable with TS-451?
Eg.
Can Kingston HyperX Impact SODIMM - 8GB Kit* (2x4GB) - DDR3L 1600MHz
Part Number: HX316LS9IBK2/8
Specs: DDR3L, 1600MHz, Non-ECC, CL9, 1.35V, Unbuffered
be used?

Re: TS-451 memory upgrade (compatibility)
Known working DRAM for TS-x51 are:
Kingston KVR16LS11/4 (4GB PC3L 12800 CL11 204 pin SO-DIMM) - single or in a pair
CRUCIAL CT51264BF160B 4 GB SO-DIMM DDR3L (1.35 V) PC3-12800 (1600 Mhz) CL11 - single or in a pair
Note the TS-x51 requires pairs of similar SO-DIMM modules when using both slots.

CRUCIAL CT51264BF160B 4 GB SO-DIMM DDR3L (1.35 V) PC3-12800 (1600 Mhz) CL11 - single or in a pair

Most likely yes - 1Rx8, based on eight 512M x 8-bit FBGA - so a similar layout as the KVR16LS11/4, don't know if the lower 9-9-9 latency timing does bring a reasonable advantage.vakavanha wrote:Kingston HyperX Impact SODIMM - 8GB Kit* (2x4GB) - DDR3L 1600MHz

Re: TS-451 memory upgrade (compatibility)
Two questions:
1) Any reason to get a single 8gb module vs. two 4gb modules?
2) What is the maximum speed? According to http://files.qnap.com/news/pressresourc ... 608-RS.pdf it is 1333, but the QNAP replacement http://shop.qnap.com/index.php?route=pr ... uct_id=131 is a single 1600 module.

Re: TS-451 memory upgrade (compatibility)
Using both channels is commonly agreed to be faster, optimal is equipping both SO-DIMM with the same sized modules.8bitkid wrote:1) Any reason to get a single 8gb module vs. two 4gb modules?
As per Inhell Ark for the J1900 CPU -> DDR3L-13338bitkid wrote:2) What is the maximum speed?
The PC3-12800 (1600 Mhz) modules are easier to find, more main stream (as used for performant notebook computers), and the price might be lower than for pure PC3-10600 1333 MHz DDR3 SO-DIMM modules.8bitkid wrote:..., but the QNAP replacement ... is a single 1600 module.
Some ultra clever geeks might find modded boards built and/or optimized to different specs.

Got it, thanks so much!
So based on the review here: http://geeklingo.net/qnap-ts-451-review ... d04aca500/
Are these modules probably the way to go? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004GV0IOW/ref ... 00_TE_item

No, most likely not - can't see a reference for being a PC3L / DDR3L / 1.35V version.8bitkid wrote:Are these modules probably the way to go?
The Corsair Value RAM the GeekLingo tried to install can't work because these are not a low voltage 1.35 V SO-DIMM, too.

So, it seems like this would work: http://www.adata.com/index.php?action=p ... 227&lan=en. I know it is 1600...is that okay?
However, I can't find it on Amazon, so if I want 8gb, it seems like this is the way to go? http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-PC3-12800 ... B008LTBITY
But, to play it safe, I've ordered two of these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CQ3 ... PDKIKX0DER

I used, ManufacturerPartNumber: CMSO8GX3M2C1600C11, Corsair Value Select 8GB (2KIT) SO-DIMM DDR3 1600MHz CL11 and it works perfectly.

Re: TS-451 memory upgrade (compatibility)
I have built in 1x Crucial 8GB DDR3 1600 SODIMM 1.35v a few weeks ago. Works fine.

Re: TS-451 memory upgrade (compatibility)
Hello,
I have read all of the reviews posted and also talked to the pre sale tech support and still can not get a straight answer
I would like to upgrade the TS-451 to 8GB of RAM (4GB x2 Modules)
Can someone please give me a link to a store to purchase modules that are compatible with the TS-451.
THANKS

Re: TS-451 memory upgrade (compatibility)
Hello Chris,
Regards,
-Kurt.
How unlikely - the official supported modules are available direct from QNAP - high costs due to shipping&handling from Taiwan. -> http://shop.qnap.com/index.php?route=pr ... uct_id=129chrismcastillorn wrote:I have read all of the reviews posted and also talked to the pre sale tech support and still can not get a straight answer
Yes, this makes a supported config.chrismcastillorn wrote:I would like to upgrade the TS-451 to 8GB of RAM (4GB x2 Modules)
Why ask so specific for "A shop" - depending on your market, I would assume it should be possible to find the Kingston or Crucial modules discussed in this (and similar) threads on TS-x51/TS-x53/TS-x53S Series. Where are you located?chrismcastillorn wrote:Can someone please give me a link to a store to purchase modules that are compatible with the TS-451.
