[Linux Station] stuck at 1280x720

Post by goin3d »

Just started using Linux Station (Ubuntu 16.04) on my 1282/i7 (internal video, no pci express card) and in trying multiple hdmi cables & multiple 4k TVs & multiple installs the only resolution that can be set is 1280x720. Everything else up to 1920 is selectable, but immediately reverts back to the 1280 setting. Has anyone else experienced this and could point me in the right direction to look for solutions?

Thanks!

I'm having this exact same issue, on my TS-653a. When I restart, a dialog comes up:

"Could not apply the stored configuration for monitors.

Required virtual size does not fit available size: requested=(1,1), minimum=(8, 8), maximum = (32767, 32767)"

Which I'm not sure where that comes from. If I type

Code: Select all

cat /share/CACHEDEV2_DATA/.qpkg/container-station/var/log/container-station/ubuntu-hd.log
with a fresh log with a fresh start of Container Station and Linux Station

[Rebooted here]

Code: Select all

I get this error two more times during rebooting, and twice when I try to manually change the screen resolution from either the web app or from Ubuntu -- once when the resolution changes, and once when it changes back.

I assume that wherever this error is happening, it's causing the Container Station to be auto-revert the resolution back to 720p, even though the resolution change was fine on the Ubuntu end?

I have the same issue now on a TS-451 with 4.3.3.0299 with Linux Station version 1.4.1594... I can change the resolution but it reverts back to 1280x720, sometimes I get an error message similar to DivideByZero. Before the summer the display configuration worked just fine, not sure whether an update of Linux Station or the firmware has caused it. Has somebody an idea? Did somebody try a clean installation of linux station?

Hi,

this is only a temporary fix but for me reverting to LinuxStation 1.2.2009 solved the issue. You can download it here

http://download.qnap.com/QPKG/linux-sta ... 09_x86.zip

and then manually install it over the existing LinuxStation.
I don't know the root cause but at least it is working for now.

Addition:
I upgraded to the latest version of LinuxStaion (1.4.1594) after going back to 1.2.2009 and it still works. Wonder how it looks after the next QTS or LS update....

This has worked for me so far. I'm still getting the could not apply monitor configuration message at boot, but it stays in 1080p. Thanks for sharing; I'm excited to have a display that's usable for more than the terminal!

Also, just FYI for anyone else, this doesn't wipe your existing Ubuntu installation.

And I am sure all of you have submitted helpdesk tickets so that QNAP can work to resolve these issues in future releases of the software.

I have done indeed. Qnap confirmed there is a bug. They said it will be fixed in the next Linuxstation. No schedule though....

Thanks for sharing the info. If I had to guess, they might release it with 4.3.4.

Heya,

having the same problem one year later. Linux Station on TS-670 Pro only starting in 720p. Linux Station version: 1.6.2246 (Problem also occuring with the older version mentioned here: 1.2.2009)
Firmware Version: 4.3.5.0722 But having this problem since about 1-2 months.

Also had this problem in the past, but then restarting (sometimes several times) till i was lucky to get 1080p helped. Could restart to infinity at the moment with no result though :/

Any ideas?

Thanks and greetings
extremolo

Edit: After the reinstall of Ubuntu 16.04 it worked to change resolution to 1080p in Display Settings. Login Screen still opening in 720p but then its switching to 1080p after login now.

Hi all, were you able to resolve this? I'm on 473 (20GB RAM) and was forced to go to Linux Station as Kodi stopped working after HD Station 4.1 upgrade. The maximum resolution offered is 1280x720. I tried Linux station 16.04 and 18.04 with same results. NAS is connected to TV via HDMI. TV is 1080p native. Thank you for hints

I am now having the same issue with both Linux station and HD station.

I might try a new HDMI cable to see if that's the issue. But it seems doubtful at this stage.

Both Linux station and HD station stay at a higher resolution for a few hours and then bump back down to 1280 x 720. It's
