Hi
We would like to do a daily backup (full + increment) from Windows servers to QNAP over WAN. We already have a backed-up data on all server on a different disk volume, now we would like to sinchronize this 'backup-up' data to a QNAP for secondary backup, so we can restore data if there will be a full disaster on a server location site.
Can anyone recommend me application that will do this job (if it is possible a free-one) ? Also, any additional info how you guys do this kind of a backup will be gladly appreciated
Regards,
Mike

Have you looked at something like ZeroTier? It's a VPN-like SD-WAN solution that works super well and has a QPKG available. Install on your servers and the QNAP and then you can use any method you would do on a LAN.

Re: Backup file/volume over WAN
Hi
Thank you for reply. Yes, site-site will be a good solution but on some sites that we need to do a Windows server --> QNAP backup we can't have site-site VPN communications.
ZeroTier looks like a great solutions, but I can't find any documentation for QNAP after installing app how to use it or to configure it do accept backups from Windows server over WAN ? Can you point me to a direction where to find additional info how to configure this ?
Regards,
Mike

@bernikm - sorry I just saw your message...
First set up your ZeroTier network using my.zerotier.com portal, and this guide:
https://zerotier.atlassian.net/wiki/spa ... h+ZeroTier
Then the QPKG is command line only, but it’s quite simple you’ll just need to join the QNAP to the network using the commands here:
https://zerotier.atlassian.net/wiki/spa ... rotier-cli
and don’t forget to approve the QNAP device in the portal afterwards. You’ll probably want to set a static IP for it within your ZeroTier address range so you can point the other devices to it.
