Questions about HBS3 to Backblaze B2

Post by chipconnection »

Hi all,

I'm new to using B2. I managed to get a Sync set up between a QNap and a B2 bucket. Seems to be working. Here's what I'm wondering about:
- If I am doing a one way sync and I have File LifeCycle: Keep all versions set.
-- Does this mean if I get hit with Ransomware I'll be able to restore previous versions?
-- How does one do that in HBS?

- And more to the point, how do I do test restores? I tried downloading a file from the web interface, but I have server-side encryption turned on and it said it couldn't include the file in the download.
-- I want to make sure I can restore to other hardware. Even a Windows PC if the QNap goes down, so don't want to rely on HBS for restoring.

Thanks,
-John

Ok, I figured out one piece of the puzzle.

I was able to connect using CyberDuck and download files and open them. My take is that the server side encryption must be tied to the AppID and Key which are used to connect using CyberDuck but not when using the web browser. So, I now know how to download the files in case the QNap crashes.
