Backing up local HD (non networked) to NAS

Post by gdgross »

Hi all, new to NAS' and networking. Have a TS-453D on my home LAN from which I'm running instrument audio samples for music production.

I have a USB SSD connected to my mac mini, which is on the same network as the NAS. I would like to set up a regular backup job to back up this local drive to a location on the NAS. (Possibly even a two way sync, if that's an option, so I can work from multiple locations, but I'll be happy with a backup at this point.).

How can I do this? When I go into QTS and open the hybrid backup sync app, the only locations that appear are locations on the NAS, not on my local machine.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
Geoff

Yeah. Could do that; I've use carbon copy in the past. No way for the NAS to see into my mac's attached drives, I guess?

not unless you would present the HDD as an SMB share on your network (no idea how to do that on mac) in order to pull it with the NAS via HBS3
