Create one-way sync jobs RTRR in HBS 3

Post by Mican »

I am not very knowledgeable in this area so I hope for understanding.
I have 2 Qnap NAS TVS-673 and TVS-863+. RAID-6 in both.
863 is only for backup of 673.
I was forced to reinstall the whole 863.
Now I have encountered a problem or maybe just a question.
Before the reinstallation, I used HBS3 one-way sync from 673 to 863.
If I now go to 673-HBS3-Jobs-Incoming Jobs, the old backup job is there, that is, the backup job that was used before the reinstallation of the 863.
I have created a new job, but I see it in My jobs in the 673. I understand that this is because I created the back up job in the 673 and that the old job was created in the 863. When I tried to create the same job but in the 863 I couldn't get it to work, from what I understood it happened that the 863 backed itself up. The 863 became both local and remote. That's why I created the job in 673 instead.
My question now is whether it matters which of the NAS has the backup job under "My Jobs"? I am thinking if it is the case that the NAS that has the job is loaded more than the other one?
In that case, I would prefer to have the job on the 863 because it is not used for anything else. 673 is the one I use daily.
If it matters, my question is how do I create a "one-way" job on 863 where 863 is local and 673 is remote but where 863 backs up 673.
Hope you understand what I mean.
Thank you for your help and for your time.

Just create an active sync job at target NAS (863) and select remote folder to local folder.
Then the 863 "pulls" the data from the 673.

Delete the old jobs.

Hi,
Can you explain in a simple way what the difference is between an "Active sync job" and a "One way sync job"?

See online help at NAS:

Code: Select all

Job Type Description

One-way sync Data is copied from the NAS to the destination.

Active sync Data is copied from the destination to the NAS.

Two-way sync Data is mirrored between the NAS and the destination.
