Hello,
Just recently have a TS-453D up and running. I set up HBS3 to schedule backups to my paid Dropbox account weekly and that seems to be working well, but I'd like to do one or both of the following:
1) Purchase an external USB HDD and connect to the NAS for local backups on a schedule - not with the "one touch copy" button feature. I don't see scheduling as an option in HBS3, but it could be because I don't have any external storage connected. I didn't want to purchase an external drive if scheduling isn't an option.
2) I have a PC on the same LAN as the NAS with two HDD in RAID1. How can I backup my NAS to the drives on this local PC?
Thanks!
HBS3 from NAS to 1) USB and 2) LAN PC HDD?

1. when you add a compatible drive you create a job and then you can copy to the folder the USB drive resides in. USB drives hang off the NAS so you can see them as a folder.
2. create a shared folder on your PC that the NAS can see. create a storage space (in HBS3) pointing to your PC with credentials, and the shared folder, create backup job and point it to the shared storage.

Re: HBS3 from NAS to 1) USB and 2) LAN PC HDD?
If you setup Sync Jobs you can do both of the desired jobs: a scheduled sync to an USB drive and a sync (not a backup!) to a PC.
For syncing to a "remote" device other than a NAS (remote is all not inside the source NAS), you need to create a storage space first.
You will find all information in manuals.

Thank you @Toxic17. I'll get a portable USB connected and give it a try.
Thank you @FSC830. I do have sync between NAS and PC working through QSync, but I additionally want to create backups.
