Hello,
I have been unable to find a solution to my situation. I have a QNAP TS-253D with only 1 4TB hard drive configured as a static volume. Now, I have bought 2 new identical (and compatible) 18TB hard drives that I want to insert in my QNAP as a RAID1 configuration.
How can I go about this? I don't want to lose my QTS configuration, my applications, my files...
I have already inserted 1 of the 2 18TB drives but I have no idea how to properly clone my original 4TB drive to the new 18TB drive to be then able to remove the 4TB and add the second 18TB and set it up as RAID1 with the other 18TB.
Any advice would be appreciated!

1. make sure you have an external backup...ALWAYS have external backups
2. convert the single disk to a RAID1 with the 18TB drive (ignore the file deletion warning, that is for the 18TB drive)
3. after that is done, replace the 4TB with another 18TB and expand the static RAID1 volume to 18TB(*0.9)
2. convert the single disk to a RAID1 with the 18TB drive (ignore the file deletion warning, that is for the 18TB drive)
3. after that is done, replace the 4TB with another 18TB and expand the static RAID1 volume to 18TB(*0.9)

thank you! One question though, what does the "*0.9" mean?

Conversion from what it says on the disk to what you can actually use
e.g.

the disks being of different capacities won't cause a problem?

As long as the new drive is larger, there is no problem.. if it is smaller, the process will not start
