Just got another response from QNAP Support - they told me they found RC buggy and decided to withdraw it (it's still available for download at the moment, though). They will release RC2 soon (no date was given) with the spotted bugs fixed.

Anyone know where I can get an image of the last non-RC beta for the TS-453D? I'd like to downgrade, but probably not to the 5.0x so that I can keep SMB multichannel ... but will go back down to 5.0x if I have to.

So update - steps I took on my TS-451D2:
- Downograde to Firmware TS-X53D_20230325-5.1.0.2348 - after restart HBS still no good
- Downgraded like many above me to Hybrid Backup Sync 21.2.0504 https://download.qnap.com/QPKG/HybridBa ... x86_64.zip and this got HBS working again with all my existing syncs/backups active.
- Went with the prompted app update to Hybrid Backup Sync 21.2.0510 and all it's working fine as well.

Hopefully the next RC sorts things out. Not sure if the HBS steps would've worked without the firmware downgrade but I'm not about to bother trying to find out :D

i'm using QTS 5.0.1.2346

with HBS 3 Hybrid Backup Sync 21.2.0510
https://www.qnap.com/en/app_releasenote ... bridBackup

this works. i last tested hbs to backup to a TL-D400S very recently.

In case someone is wondering what to fall back to and what is confirmed to be working.

anyway seem to be a slew of updates and not good feedback, so i'll wait/postpone updates another week to see whats what

ps: noticed there is a newer hbs in app update, but due to the comments i will just pass on the update for things to settle down first, just incase :D

Now it's gone from the download page, but the Support wouldn't give me any ETA for RC2 release.

UPDATE: HBC v21.2.0524 has appeared in the App Center. In my case this release has addressed the prior issue - HBC now operates as expected!

I'd be careful to assume that HBS update fixes it. Many of us saw "fixes" by changing versions or uninstalling and reinstalling the then-current version, only to have the problem reappear (in my case, after any reboot, though I'm not sure if that's what triggered it). It may just be that upgrading to the new version, it's cleared whatever cobwebs any other reinstall/upgrade/downgrade cleared, but that the problem will resurface.

I'll be waiting for both RC2 and a couple of days of no new problems appearing on these forums and reddit.

HBS 21.2.0524 is supposed to fix that very issue

I stumbled on a temporary manual work-around that works for me.

I am experiencing the same issue with HBS3 v 21.2.0510 as reported by others above, although I am on QTS 5.0.1.2376 firmware. I am on Notification Center v 1.5.0.2126.
I have one backup, with a destination of a local HD docking station, that is scheduled to run at the same time every day, followed by 3 other backups to that same docking station that run in succession after the first time-based one.
I have another parallel set of backups with a destination of my Backblaze B2 offsite storage, also initiated by a first time-based backup and 3 other successive backups.
I realized that I have not been receiving the normal email notifications for these backups, for the previous 4 days, which coincides with when I installed that latest version of HBS3.

When I opened App Center and clicked on the "Open" under the HBS3 icon, it never opened, but just displayed "starting" in green, and hung there. But - I noticed if clicked "cancel" under the icon, then left-clicked on the HBS3 icon itself (in App Center), it did open the "About" window as expected, and the "Open" button in that window DID open the HBS3 app for me.
Once I had HBS3 open, I noticed that the two time-based backups had the red X "error" indication. But I was able to run the backup manually on each of those failed time based backups. All of the subsequent sequential backups also ran successfully to completion.

I know this is a temporary manual workaround, but this will allow me to generate daily backups in a manual fashion until QNAP resolves whatever the issues are.

That is likely not the same issue described here...
You may want to contact QNAP support to help fix your issue.

Upgraded from the beta, to the RC - already had HBS 21.2.0524 installed

Experienced the not starting problem, restarted NAS still didn't work, downgraded HBS to 21.2.0504 and all working again

I've faced similar problems, but not with HBS. The dashboard/hardware info/Network and virtual switch are empty after the upgrade to 5.1
When I looked at the /var/log/hal_lib.log I saw plenty of errors like this:
