I'm setting up a brand-new TS664. I installed HBS 3. I created a shared folder "tmbackups" and user "tmbackup" with write privileges to tmbackups (verified, can mount, create folder).
When I go to add the backup to either of my two macs, it's stuck on "Mounting" the disk.
I am not using the default TimeMachine user, but this should all work, right?
Thanks in advance,
shrinkingmedic

Re: Time Machine stuck at "mounting disk"
QNAP have a good tutorial for this.
SMB is recommended, and works for me.
Switch off the hbs3 Time Machine on QNAP.
Enable SMB, min version 2 on QNAP.
Switch off bonjour on QNAP unless you need it for something else, and see next step.
Connect to your server share from MAC using the SMB shown in the tutorial.
Now you have a disk to select from Mac Time Machine. Select it, enter password for the share when prompted.
Backup should start soon.
