You might want to look at the OwnCloud package. Sounds like it might be an alternative.

Is the issue only with Qsync or is it related to the QNAP device/firmware, etc itself? After reading the disasters in this thread, I plan on disabling Qsync -- suppose I am fortunate not to have used it yet. But I am considering an alternative, BT Sync. BT Sync is what I had originally planned on using, but I wanted to check out reviews of Qsync since it came with the hardware.

So if the issue is merely Qsync, then it would make sense to try out different software. While if the issue does turn out to be hardware, then I really need to return my QNAP device in a hurry!

Thanks for letting us know. I was just about to tell my whole team to install this a a means of backing up all their data to our newly acquired NAS. I think I'll use NetBack replicator instead. The pressure on system resources of having several users syncing in permanence to our entry-level machine is also a really good point I hadn'tt hought of.

I just bought a TS-453A and encountering the same. This morning first thing I saw on my iMac screen right top corner: QSYNC DELETED 132 FILES.
Files are gone from my iMac but they are still on the NAS.

I wish I found out about this earlier I would not buy Qnap.

Submitted ticket already but to be honest if Qnap is considered 'specialist' on this field they lost my trust.

I gave up on QSync a long time ago - the NAS hardware in many cases is just not sufficient to (I) keep track of the file-lists (database, check sums etc) and (II) QSync is very badly implemented - it is more than unprofessional by QNAP to even release such a piece of S**T code but the "dropbox-like" functionality is a reason to buy the NAS initially ... as it was or me.

Long story short - I switched to BTsync, BUT I do not use BTSync on the NAS but instead sync either to mapped drive/folder on the NAS or in some cases rsync the folder to the NAS as a Backup.

Implementations such as Owncloud suffer similar problems when running on especially the smaller ARM-based NAS that the CPU and for sure RAM is not capable to handle the database required for the sync-backend (checksums, versioning,....)

My client is using a TS269L. Firmware ver 4.2.2 and up to date. Running Qsync to a paired folder on 5 Macs. Dont know if the issue is with Macs only, but this is a complete disaster to say the least. Call support and they have not heard of it ( 2 techs) submitted tickets and it is way over 24 hrs and still no response and I have to resort to my own research. The product itself in my opinion is solid, but the sync software is not to be trusted. My users report that they create new files and within a minute, some of them are deleted as the qsync updater reports: " xyz file has been deleted". They do go into the Qsync recycle bin and can be restored, only to be "auto " deleted again in some cases. They also report that some auto deleted file reappear in a few hours as Qsync reports" the file had been added". WTF, how can we run a business when files are self purging. I look like an ** for hyping this feature up and sold it to them. Now I have to find an alternative.

just forget this feature, qnap does not seem to be capable of making it work properly. i personally moved to owncloud which does its job quite perfectly. only thing with qnap again is: the owncloud-qpkg is still at version 8 because of some old libraries qnap wont update.

I've had the same issue for the entire two years that I've owned my QNAP NAS. I also get the error "Abnormal status". I wish I'd bought a Synology now.

QNAP have repeatedly suggested resetting the NAS, which I have done several times, at great inconvenience, and it never helped. I have updated the Qsync software, uninstalled it then reinstalled it, over and over again. They also spent about 8 hours remotely controlling my laptop trying to fix Qsync one day, that also failed. The latest suggestion was that my router's port forwarding is not set up correctly, I disagree and they are most certainly clutching at straws.

I'm totally sick of wasting time on this device. I've uninstalled Qsync and I'm now looking for a new sync programme to replace it with.

Any update on this?
I tried updating qsync and I have an extract error. I googled the error and saw this frightening post.
I'm running a TS-453a and qsync for windows.
Never had this issue. I'm using qsync for one user at a time, no multiple users or multiple computers using the same folder.

ok the extract error was a disk space issue even if I had more than 2GB available.
