.... yes! I reported that I have the same issue using File Explorer and I thought it might be a useful information. I hope for a new fimware solving the problem. Can't backup my data at the moment! I've read in another forum that there are people having the same problems. Never had this before upgrading to the latest firmware.

Well it is but having the same issue with a different application still only points at the thing in common, which is the external disk.
I've read in another forum that there are people having the same problems.
The problem is, judging by the symptoms you may have a totally different problem. It may be firmware related as well but nobody knows as no effective troubleshooting have been performed.

The truth is that this thread is useless and it should have been closed before its started to attract all those saying "me too" when in reality they have different problems.

You should open you own thread and see if someone is interested in helping you do useful troubleshooting or contact qnap support if you want Qnap to assist you with solving the issue.
Never had this before upgrading to the latest firmware.
The risk with adding new features is always that things break in the process.

In general downgrading the firmware is as safe as upgrading it.
RAID have never ever been a replacement for backups. Without backups on a different system (preferably placed at another site), you will eventually lose data!

A non-RAID configuration (including RAID 0, which isn't really RAID) with a backup on a separate media protects your data far better than any RAID-volume without backup.

All data storage consists of both the primary storage and the backups. It's your money and your data, spend the storage budget wisely or pay with your data!

Just jumping onto the bandwagon, I upgraded a Qnap to 4.2.x last week and now RTRR is no longer working. Was this ever solved?

When I upgraded to 4.2.0 from 4.1.4 I recreated my jobs and problems I had after the upgrade were solved.

SOLVED

Post by ctsystems »

After giving another go at it and searching this forum I found this post:
viewtopic.php?t=115008#p516516

I did as this guy said and simply created the replication jobs again, all worked instantly!

RTRR still doesn`t work, even after the 4.2.4 update i did yesterday

i was backing up files from a windows server SMB folder to my QNAP 465 pro2 NAS

i`ve deleted the job, and now it doesn`t even work at the test, and if i manage to set up the backup job, at the first run it says:

and the whole log:

Well RTRR in general works but this since long useless thread have over the last 2.5 years attracted all those that have mostly different odd specific issues but hope things will magically be fixed by a forum post.

Your log says that you "Synchronize files between a local folder and an external drive." so which of those things is it really?
...QNAP 465 pro2 NAS
I had no idea there was such a thing.

What kind of model is that?

Have you tried contacting Qnap support?

thats the beauty of qnap... i`m trying to backup server SMB to qnap, and the log says sync between local and external drive :))))))))) what external drive qnap, are you serious ???

thaks cpt. obvious for the typo, ofc i meant 459 pro 2

contacting qnap support is like trying to speak to todlers...

also a thing that worked so fine the past year (backing up data from my server to my qnap) stopped working after no changes in the system, other than updating my qnap firmware...

thanks qnap for ruining everything and confirming that software NAS can NEVER replace true backup software from the titans like symantec or acronis...

now i just need to use the qnap unit as a NAS, and stop using its services, because they are truly garbage

Despite having that same model I didn't find it that obvious. My best guesses were 463 or 469 and there are other possibillites as well. Hopefully letting your steam out in the forum at least made you feel better.

Good bye!

i-m just frustrated like any normal human being, who had something that worked, and now it doesn`t work, not by their fault...

even more frustrated because now i have to find workarounds, and stop using qnap backup services

P.S. i-ve submited an ticket with qnap 2 days ago... guess what, no answer :))) i-m not even surprised

qnap makes the best hardware NAS units on the market today, but their software and support are so trash, makes you wonder why ?
