GoodSync QNAP Installation

Post by Thomas »

Hi,

I have a QNAP TS-653Pro. I run the latest build of QTS 4.2.1.

I am trying to get GoodSync to work on my QNAP and I have followed the instructions as specified on the following page:

http://www.goodsync.com/for-nas-qnap

However, once the installation is complete, I can't get any page to display under http://192.168.1.2:11000 (where 192.168.1.2 is my QNAP IP address).

Has anyone encountered the same issue?

Thanks

Have used Goodsync before and pretty good, don't see why not on Qnap App Centre but seems new.
I'd asked Qnap if supported/firmware issue.
Check no antivirus is blockng that port.

I have asked QNAP and GoodSync. No reply so far. I also think the most likely scenario is a port issue. Though I believe the issue is at the QNAP level with another application potentially interfering. Any idea how I can scan communications on port to see if an application is already using it?

It's not reserved
https://helpdesk.qnap.com/index.php?/Kn ... -qnap--nas
Try this on it, assume you disable any local firewalls as a test

Same issue the port is not active or assigned maybe you will have an answer soon.

Configuring GoodSync Server via Web User Interface

GoodSync Server may be configured via its Web User Interface, which is a web server that GoodSync Server runs on your computer, at http://localhost:11000 (was port 4444).

Use Primary user credentials (userID and password) to login.

This is what you can do in the Web UI:
- Add, Modify, and Delete secondary users.
- Change the server options.
- Turn server components on and off.

You can setup a Home Folder for a secondary user, so that this user will only see files and folders inside this Home Folder. Home Folder is a URL, for example: file:///c:/folder1 is the same as c:\folder1

Ports Used - Summary

GoodSync Server uses these TCP/IP and UDP ports:
- TCP port 33333: GoodSync client calls GoodSync server on this port to download/upload files.
- TCP port 11000 (was 4444): Browser calls GoodSync server on this local-only port to display GS Server Web UI.
- TCP port 80 and 443: GoodSync Clients and Servers call mediator.goodsync.com on this port, to coordinate connections.
- UDP port 33338 and 33339: used for local discovery (broadcast) of GoodSync Servers by GoodSync clients.
- TCP port 22222: GoodSync Server serves its files via WebDAV protocol on this port, if enabled.
- TCP port 33334: GoodSync server accepts Manage API commands on this port, local only.

I try the Goodsync in other 2 of my QNAP NAS and the GUI interface did not appears with the port 11000, I think the .qpkg has a fail because I instaled remotely in a Synology NAS and works OK.

Since the developer is realeasing few days ago has some bug. I opened a ticket with them but I did not get any info yet.

I received today this answer from GoodSync, change the port on the settings.tix file but doesn't tell the path location, maybe someone has a idea where is?

Hello,

The port number can be changed from a settings.tix file in the Server folder of the GoodSync installation path
The GoodSync Services will need to be restarted for changes to take effect.

You say no page display at all?
It should prompt you are this time to enter a User Id and Password to log into Server Advanced Options.
Regards

it gets installed to:
/share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/gs-server

then, i'm guessing here, but the "settings.tix" file i imagine WOULD be found in this path but there is nothing there: /share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/gs-server/etc/.goodsync/server

to your point, the q-package is probably broken.

if we can find a sample settings.tix somewhere we may be able to fix...

so i installed the windows version and grabbed the settings.tix file from there, copied it over to the above location... and it still doesn't work. changed the port in there to 999 instead of 11000, that didn't work either. so much for an easy fix. hopefully goodsync gets it figured out.

Hi

I have just found this thread following my installing the QNAP pkg. I'm getting a connection refused error when opening the 11000 page in my browser. I assume no one has had a solution from Goodsync? I have raised a ticket as well.

they just updated it and it's working for me: http://www.goodsync.com/for-nas-qnap

however, it appears it requires to have the desktop app as well. meaning, this is not a stand-alone sync application by itself which is very unfortunate. back to the native qnap stuff...

Has anyone tried gsync or gs-server (http://www.goodsync.com/for-linux) on QNAP? It's not clear what the difference is between this and the qpkg. I'd like to periodically sync files via sftp, and might be able to do that with gsync if it has the same "runner" capability as the Windows version. I submitted a ticket to GoodSync asking these questions, but have not yet received a credible answer.

I installed the last version in my office and the same the web access is not responding. I don't have port conflict so I think something is wrong. I removed the old version before intall the update.
I will test with 2 more NAS to see happen the same, this is different network.

Hi,
same problem with my QNAP NAS TS 119PII.

Just today I installed the qpkg-package and tried to reach gs-server via 192.168.2.140:11000.

It seems the issue isn't solved yet.

Has anyone a solution?
Thanks.
M.
