Backup from Android Phone to QNAP, is this possible?
Hello,
I'm sure someone has a solution or that can give a good advise here
I'm looking for a workflow to run periodic backups from android phones towards the QNAP. Wifi Access is possible. Any advise?
Searching on the forum I could not find any hint.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Backup from Android Phone to QNAP, is this possible?
Im also looking for that.
Using QNAP to Backup iOS, Android and W10 devices instead of paying for OneDrive iCloud etc.
I'd use the basic cloud account to backup settings, apps etc... And QNAP to backup media files, files etc...
Ive tried QFile autoupload but it does not work as expected. It does not upload all kinds of files... And also i need to open Qfile so it can stars uploading files.
Thanks...

Backing up media and documents can be done with cloud services like Dropbox or Google Drive. From there you can sync your stuff with the appropriate QNAP app, like Dropbox.
Backing up directly from your mobile device is complicated compared with Dropbox syncing. The QNAP's software would need to know exactly where to put files, the file hierarchy for each Android/iPhone OS version, and the best way to connect to said device. Naturally it would be over wifi in most cases. To achieve this you would need an app on both sides, one installed on the QNAP and another on the phone.

Re: Backup from Android Phone to QNAP, is this possible?
It would be. But that would require all mobile platforms, iOS, Android, and Windows Mobile, to have the resources to connect to NAS and file servers just like a computer. It's unlikely to ever happen to iOS since it is very much a closed system. Even Android it is not certain. A better solution for everybody involved would be if people like QNAP and Synology made their own apps for backing up files. That would eliminate a lot of the inevitable BS associated with sharing files on a local network.japex wrote:That would be a neat feature for all mobile platfomrs....

Re: Backup from Android Phone to QNAP, is this possible?
Yes, I saw that. I doubt it would happen as one would wish. QNAP/Synology don't make business out of the mobile industry, even though they have apps for mobile, like QManager. QFile can access the QNAP from your mobile device. There you can upload whatever. I am not familiar with the particulars of it, though.japex wrote:That's what i meant.... If this is a feature you feel strongly about, submit a feature request with QNAP.

I'm using Acronis True image to make a full backup of my Android/iOS devices to my QNAP NAS, pretty simple and easy to use.

Re: Backup from Android Phone to QNAP, is this possible?
Sorry to wake a sleeping thread.
I use QFile with a lot of directories that are sent automatically to QNAP (which then replicates to another QNAP overnight 300kms away), which basically covers:
- Titanium backup folder on external SD, backs up every two nights
- DCIM folder
- Call record folder
Everything works just fine, as soon as I connect to Wifi, QFile starts uploading. One thing I did to forget that this is happening is disabling the QFile android App notifications in Android system.
I have this like this for two year now.
Feel free to ask if you have any doubt
Cheers
