TS453 Pro
I swapped out all 4 HD's to higher capacity drives and latest firmware which I upgraded in the process. Running RAID 10. All good on the restore except I can't get my VM's to show using virtualization station (VS). I restored the folder with all the previous VM's and their associated files. When running the VS app, it does not recognize any exsiting VMs.
What did I miss?
Any help is appreciated.

You needed to Export the VM's out of Virt Station, and then do an import of the exported file.

No way to save them from a simple folder copy? My old drives have been removed.Trexx wrote:You needed to Export the VM's out of Virt Station, and then do an import of the exported file.

Re: Changed hard drives now cannot restore virtualization station VMs
why didn't u just use the upgrade for the drives that keeps the system intact? ...or did you change the raid rayout ? (eg. raid5 to raid10)

Did you ever get this figured out. I'm in the same boat after my Qnap crashed hard.
I have a copy of the VM's from backup but can't figure out how to get them to fire back up.
Everything I've tried so far has failed. Making me wish I used VMware or Hyper-V instead!!!

Re: Changed hard drives now cannot restore virtualization station VMs
Hey,
Figured it out in case you still want to know.
1. I created a new folder on Qnap and pointed Virtulization Station to it.
2. I copied the backup vm's to that folder.
3. Created new vm and used the existing .img files. There will be multiple popups so just push through them.
4. Wait for the .img conversion to finish. This will take a while depending on the size of the .img file. Once it's done you can fire up the vm.
This worked on a Windows 7 and 2012R2 vm's. They appear to be running fine.
