I have moved your post into a separate thread since this is a different issue.

Please give more information on what you have tried so far, and what error you are getting when trying to setup a backup/restore job from/too an SMB share. Hardware used, Firmware and Build number and HBS version number would be nice too.
Regards Simon

if its possible you could create a mount point from the NAS to your SMB share then use the "Local Backup"

not sure if you have tried using filemanger to create a "remote mount" and then possibly use that to use HBS perhaps?

if not email: hbsbeta@qnap.com with a request/feedback.

Hi Simon,

I'm actually in dialogue with support team with regards to this issue, it hasn't progressed much so far (got some questions from support despite the issue is fairly simple to reproduce).
My issue since the last HBS upgrade is that I can no longer connect to my Apple Airport Time Capsule via SMB. I used to have a job copy files from NAS to Time Capsule but it failed all the time after the upgrade.
I then removed the job and tried to create a new one without luck. When setting up the SMB profile the test always fail, even I manage to add the profile HBS cannot see the content under the shared folder.
The "remote mount" via file station seems to work fine and I can browse/edit files in Time Capsule. So it seems to me that HBS lost the ability to connect SMB target for backup.
I don't know how to do local backup to a remote mount SMB target, so I haven't tried that option.
