Running QTS 4.3.5.0728
Whenever we back up a folder or file with a name beginning with a dot, e.g. ".thx" ".jback", that folder or file is saved on the QNAP with hidden attribute set.
Nothing we do can override that "hidden" attribute. We've tried attrib command and changing attributes in File Explorer.
Is this a feature or a bug? What can we do to get back to normal behavior, i.e. file attributes remain as they are?

Re: Files/Folders Copied - Forced Hidden Attribute
In Linux, filenames beginning with a dot ‘.’ are considered to be hidden. This IS normal behaviour.
Hidden status is not determined by setting an attribute, as you would in DOS/Windows.

What can we do since when restoring the files we might miss those files/folders?

Re: Files/Folders Copied - Forced Hidden Attribute
If you’re accessing your files from a Linux system, ensure you view all files (including hidden files).
If you’re accessing them from a Windows system, they won’t be hidden.
What is your specific use-case?

We have a Windows environment, and those files/folders are hidden.

Re: Files/Folders Copied - Forced Hidden Attribute
Are you using SMB shares?
If those files show as hidden in Windows, then I suspect the Samba config in your NAS will require tweaking. I’m not the person for that.
Can anyone else help here please?

Would need help. The files do not show up in File Station.
QNAP SHOULD MAKE THIS INTO AN OPTION: UNHIDE "DOT" FILES !!!

As QTS File Station is running on Linux, it already has an option to show hidden files.gwen4 wrote:Would need help. The files do not show up in File Station.
Click the 3 vertical dots near the top-right of File Station, then click 'Settings' from the drop-down box, then check the box for 'Show hidden files on NAS'.

That worked (although we are a little uncomfortable that other system files are shown!)
Thank you very much!

This still won't show the .qpkg directory.OneCD wrote: ↑Thu Oct 25, 2018 8:19 pmAs QTS File Station is running on Linux, it already has an option to show hidden files.gwen4 wrote:Would need help. The files do not show up in File Station.
