Backup question

Post by janzy21 »

Hi,
Very new to this so please bear with me.
I have a 451+ that I stupidly used jbod , now one of my disks is failing.
Can I use an external hard drive attached to the USB port of the 451+ and do a backup and then replace the faulty disk then restore but using raid instead of jbod?

Hello,

In this case you can take the data off the failing disk and move it to the external drive but to configure a RAID on the disks you will need to remove all of the data from all of the disks.

If you have an external drive that is large enough for the data I would suggest taking it all off. Configuring the RAID and then moving the data back to the RAID ready NAS.

Cheers.
